Kites!

The beginning of summer gave us the opportunity to enter a cake competition!  The Child Advocacy Center sponsored "Taste of Cakes at Tuscan Hill" and each cake in the competition had to be kite themed.  It was a lot of fun to create our entry, which was titled "Kids, Kites, and Cupcakes--a playful picnic of neapolitan delights."

It was fun to create the children and picnic goodies and kites out of fondant, and we were pleased with the results!

Our First Artsfest (with mixed results)!

What a weekend! Not only was it Artsfest weekend, it was also my grandpa’s 90th birthday in Oklahoma. My mom and dad set up our booth, and then Mom and I headed for Oklahoma with cakes and cupcakes.

We Amycakes' bakers thought we’d baked plenty for two days of celebrating on Walnut Street, but the beautiful weather and the fantastic response from customers helped us sell out of everything on Saturday! I appreciate my employees, their helpers, and my dad for working so hard at Artsfest. And I appreciate you for stopping by our booth!

If I’d been in town, I would have baked all night to restock and open on Sunday. I’m sorry that so many were disappointed!

It was a great party in Oklahoma, though, for a fabulous grandpa. Happy birthday, Pa!

Fun with special orders

It's been a busy spring at Amycakes!  Thank you to all of you who have stopped by the bakery.

We have had a lot of fun recently with special order cakes.  Jessica is an amazing artist, and she and I have really enjoyed designing some of our cakes.  Here are a few of our recent creations:

This week we will be working on our entry in the Edible Books Festival at the Park Central Branch Library.  I hope you can stop by the library this Friday, April 2nd, between noon and 7 PM.  Winners will be announced at 7 and then the entries will be eaten!

What's new at Amycakes

We survived our first (very busy!) Christmas!  Thank you to everyone who ordered for the holidays.  After a short holiday break we started back in the bakery last week.  Be sure to check out our newly updated "About" and "Gallery" pages!  We've got a fun, artistic staff that has a lot to share.
