Amycakes' BlogWe survived our first (very busy!) Christmas! Thank you to everyone who ordered for the holidays. After a short holiday break we started back in the bakery last week. Be sure to check out our newly updated "About" and "Gallery" pages! We've got a fun, artistic staff that has a lot to share.

We will be closing at noon on Christmas Eve and will reopen on Tuesday, January 5th. Happy holidays!
Amycakes has officially been open one month- it's kind of hard for me to believe! So far so good! It's been a lot of hard work but I'm loving it and learning every day. Here are just a few things I've discovered:
1. I'm a horrible blogger. :-/ I'll try to be better, but let's face it-- I eat, breathe, and sleep BAKING!!
2. There are a lot of nice people that visit and work downtown- If you regularly visit Amycakes for a treat then you're already one of my favorite people! It's been so fun making new friends and acquaintances.
3. Downtown business owners are awesome! It's been great to feel a part of the downtown community. The Hot Glass Studio, Whislers, Coffee Ethic, Global Fayre, Vintage Vice, and South Ave Pizza- Just a few places that have been so supportive and encouraging.
4. Cupcakes, cupcakes, CUPCAKES! People love them. As do I! I'm making extra for tomorrow's First Friday Art Walk.
5. I have very nice parents. They've been working just as hard as me.
That's it for now! I'll be uploading some new photos soon. I hope to see a lot of people out for Art Walk tomorrow!! :)
Today was my first official day owning the bakery. It felt great to get started. I was feeling a little overwhelmed organizing and painting in one week, but I had some amazing helpers today! Julie, George and Kathy, and of course Mom and Dad- THANK YOU!!
And thank you Samantha, who came by and designed my new business cards. Samantha is an awesome photographer. See:

A lot of her photographs
will be featured in
the bakery. Yay!
Just six more days....

Exciting news!! Amycakes is going to be moving!

I have been so lucky to have the encouragement of my boss at South Ave. Pizza, who has allowed me to use his commercial kitchen for Amycakes for the past year. With the help of some very kind people, I was given the opportunity to become the owner of The Bakehouse in downtown Springfield. I am working now with the owner, Barb Baker, and her helper Sarah. They are wonderful teachers and it is fascinating to learn about owning a bakery.
I am very excited about having my own Amycakes bakery, which has been a dream of mine for as long as I can remember. The Bakehouse will close on July 31st and reopen as Amycakes on August 3rd. Please come visit!
